A growing engineering services firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of energy infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop technical skills under the guidance of experienced senior staff while contributing to meaningful work across oil, gas, LNG, CNG, propane, and renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop engineering calculations, schematic designs, facility layouts, and technical reports for energy infrastructure projects
Analyze maps, drawings, aerial imagery, test data, and field reports to inform project planning and design decisions
Apply sound engineering judgment to navigate project challenges and support client goals related to energy system development and operations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver effective solutions for clients
Leverage software tools for data gathering, engineering calculations, studies, and report generation
Attend client meetings as needed, including occasional evening availability
Work under the direction of senior engineers while demonstrating initiative on assigned tasks
Project Engineering Responsibilities
Evaluate and specify electrical equipment and process instrumentation for energy facilities
Design lighting systems for industrial applications
Size and select conductors for power distribution, control, and communication circuits
Specify protective devices including fuses and circuit breakers for motor and equipment circuits
Develop one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel schematics, and cable schedules
Identify and classify hazardous locations and incorporate findings into all relevant design elements
Review and specify PLC-based control systems and support integration into new or existing infrastructure
Generate Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) derived from process flow diagram piping
Work toward obtaining professional engineering licensure
Perform additional duties as assigned
Work Environment
Work is performed in both office and field environments. Office duties may involve extended periods at a workstation with computer use. Field assignments may include outdoor work and visits to active construction sites in varying weather conditions. Travel of up to 90% may be required; a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary. Overtime and weekend availability may occasionally be requested.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and perform hands-on tasks on a regular basis
Frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. required
Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust visual focus
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
0–3 years of related engineering experience
Foundational understanding of engineering principles with the ability to apply them using sound judgment
Ability to produce basic technical drawings and perform engineering computations
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders
Preferred:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
