Title: Electrical Engineer (Vehicle Harness Design)

Industry: Military Vehicles / DOD / Must be able to obtain a clearance

Location: ON-SITE Sterling Heights, MI

Pay/Duration: 12 months plus contract to hire / 45.00 - 55.00 per hour

KEY SKILLS: BS Degree / MS Visio / CHS - Mentor Graphics / Harness XC / Capital Logic / Capital Topology

Leading the development and documentation of component and subsystem requirements for the electrical harness system.

Designing electrical wiring harness BOM to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, cables, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.

Developing harness components to meet key performance and timing targets by working collaboratively with Product Engineering, EMC, Systems Engineering, Packaging Analysis, Design Services, Planning, and Program teams.

Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses

Designing to environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence and exposure to harsh chemicals

Creating and designing drawings for harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology

Working with designers and physical architects to route harnesses (moved to primary task, removed and changed some text here to try to reduce number of CAD designers applying)

Coordinating the harness design execution to support multiple products. This includes harness schematic maturity, harness routings, harness drawings, harness installations, harness interconnects, and harness electrical wiring diagrams.

Tracking of harness design progress and presenting to key stakeholders.

Ensuring the harness design and interfaces are defined and designed in adherence to engineering standard work for the purpose of on-time high quality delivery.

Leading and supporting continuous process improvement, best practices, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives.
