The Electrical Engineer III (EEIII) is an integral part of the Engineering Operations Team. You will be assigned projects based on skill set and interest that range from ideation and design of new products to stewardship of products from development to commercialization to support and iteration of Sonablate products that are currently on the market. As the Electrical Engineer III you will be responsible for the management and execution of product design related to new products and changes and remediation activities to existing products by participating in cross-functional teams and managing project execution from initiation through completion within the framework of Sonablate’s quality management system.
In addition to implementing new products, design changes that enhance performance, addressing quality issues, and maintaining compliance to applicable standards, the Electrical Engineer III performs product investigations, determines root cause, identifies and implements corrections and corrective actions. Additionally, as a senior member of the team, the Electrical Engineer III should serve as a mentor to the Engineering Operations team as well as a carrier of Sonablate Corp.’s culture – be available for questions, provide feedback, elevate others, make something better today, and communicate, clarify, and confirm directions with all co-workers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support for existing and new products by developing solutions for problems primarily of electrical/circuit nature with some supervisory oversight Research, verify, and implement the replacement of end-of-life components while sustaining current product design intents Implement new designs and solutions to existing products and actively participate in the design of new products, systems, and sub-systems Generate test protocols and reports and execute product testing within Sonablate’s Fry Laboratory Project planning and execution to ensure timely completion of tasks interface with all functional areas affected by products including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, Supply Chain, and Service as warranted Generate Engineering Change Orders to support Engineering Operations efforts Maintain Design History Files and Technical File Documentation Work to maintain product performance and quality of existing products by leading and assisting with issues related to CAPAs, customer complaints, and manufacturing processes Follow strict adherence to policies and procedures associated with an FDA controlled environment Present project status to stakeholders, management, and teams Assist manufacturing with testing and troubleshooting during startup of manufacturing Provide direction and/or support to other Engineers Serve as mentor and advisor to junior members of the Engineering Operations Team Be a driver of new technology to improve productivity and efficiency Embody and carry the Sonablate Corp. culture throughout the organization All other duties, as assigned Qualifications/Specifications Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering 6-9 years of experience in related field or equivalent with education and experience Previous experience in medical device design is highly desirable Extensive knowledge of circuit board layout, design, and manufacturing (both with digital and analog electronics), documentation, and testing in the RF range both low level and high-power signals up to several hundred watts Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers, impedance analyzers, and power meters Extensive knowledge of electrical assemblies: power, cabling, signaling, interfacing, RF, and shielding Extensive knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies: servo motors, stepper motors, and actuators Microcontroller use design and programming experience Preferred Multi-layer circuit design, schematic capture, prototyping Altium experience desired Design work under ISO 13485 a plus *Previous experience in Ultrasound a plus
