Electrical Engineering Manager with a PE (required)
**West Houston in the Energy Corridor area, direct hire role**
Job Overview/Summary:
This is a fast-paced position in which the senior engineer will work with multiple simultaneous project teams for onshore and offshore facilities. Expected to have a functional working knowledge of common industry standards, and be able to will be able to independently complete tasks which meet the needs of the customer and project teams. This role is expected to provide engineering management tasks, including leadership on project teams, mentorship, and proposal work.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Independently perform common electrical engineering design tasks, including low and medium voltage power distribution, grounding, area classification, cable and raceway sizing and design.
- Specify and design medium and high voltage outdoor substation, distribution, and protection components, including switchgear, high voltage outdoor air insulated switchyards, overhead lines, risers, and underground cable systems.
- Utilize ETAP for multiple analysis types, including arc flash energy calculation, protective device coordination, ground grid step and touch potential, underground cable thermal studies, and DC/AC loss and load flow for renewable energy projects.
- Perform design checks and provide mentorship to other electrical engineers.
- Provide input on cost estimates for a variety of projects, including renewable energy, midstream, and downstream E&C facilities.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering License is preferred.
- Experience with high voltage distribution, transmission, and substations is required.
- Experience with renewable energy systems, including solar layout and design and BESS is highly preferred.
- Ability to read, create, and modify electrical control schematics is preferred.
- Must have high proficiency with common Office computer software, including PDF markup tools.
- Must have a functional working knowledge of NFPA 70, API 500, and other key industry codes and standards.
- Experience with harmonic and transient analysis in ETAP/SKM is highly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate well in written and verbal communications.
