Job Description - Electrical Pre-Tester

Eaton\u2019s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Electrical Pre-Tester The hours for this position are 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday\n\nThe hourly rate for this position is 23.92 per hour. \nThis position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.\n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nPosition Overview:\n\nThe Electrical Tester will verify correct wiring, verify components, program controllers, and evolve to assist with conducting electrical testing of switchboard products and components, as required, per applicable test procedure and/or component literature with the overall goal of timely order fulfillment and adherence to Eaton\u2019s quality standards. \n\nMaking what matters work at Eaton takes the passion of every employee around the world. It\u2019s where bold, bright professionals like you can reach your full potential\u2014and where you can help us reach ours.\n\nIn this function you will:\n\n\u2022 Inspect wiring and Test Switchboard product produced on all lines, according to testing work instructions and in accordance with applicable governmental requirements, to uncover product non-conformances. Document inspections made on applicable checklist \n\u2022 Utilize continuity tester, trip test kits. Verify switches and circuit breakers function properly. Conduct electrical tests per safety and training requirements and procedures. (Shunt Trip, configuration, NETA testing.) \n\u2022 Verify that any revisions released to the production floor regarding wiring are incorporated into the product, all documentation reflects the current revision, and previous revisions of documents are destroyed. \n\u2022 Ensure that component literature and necessary product documentation are included with the job. \n\u2022 Document nonconformance\u2019s, which are critical quality records, to aid problem solving and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate production non-conformances to appropriate production personnel in a timely manner and verify required rework. Communicate design errors to appropriate front-end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework. \n\u2022 Ensure that suspect product is identified as such at all times to prevent unintended use. \n\u2022 Serve as informal trainer for to production personnel.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. \n\u2022 Must meet one of the following qualifications: \n\u2022 Associate\u2019s degree in Electronics or Mechatronics from an accredited institution OR Military technical school equivalent diploma in a related field. \n\u2022 Minimum of 6 months of experience performing electrical testing (reading schematics, troubleshooting circuits, verifying continuity, general electrical component knowledge). \n\u2022 6 months of experience wiring experience (Switchboard or Power Distribution products). \n\u2022 Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship.\n\n \nPreferred qualifications:\n\n\u2022 1 year of experience performing electrical testing (troubleshooting, circuits, testing electronics, product testing, system diagnosis). \n\u2022 2 years of wiring experience (reading schematics, troubleshooting circuits, verifying continuity, general electrical component knowledge). \n\u2022 BS in engineering \n\n## Skills:\n\nPosition Criteria:\n\n\u2022 This position requires a minimum of 1-year commitment in order to support full implementation of the project. If selected for this role, your eligibility to bid on other roles will reset for a period of 1 year unless approved by manager/HR. Receiving an offer for this role does not represent an employment contract. \n\u2022 Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem-solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within team environment. \n\u2022 Requires thorough knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality. \n\u2022 Requires thorough knowledge of all assembled SWBD product designs (i.e. PRL-C, PRL-I, IFS, etc.) \n\u2022 Requires thorough knowledge related to wiring of various components \n\u2022 Requires thorough knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, component functionality, and assembly processes on all lines. (HiPot, Shunt Trip, component Testing, configuration, NETA testing, and communication) \n\u2022 Requires competency in applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, customer-specific requirements. \n\u2022 Requires the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, Blow-Thrus, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures. \n\u2022 Requires the ability to work with multi-meters, the ability to trouble shoot complex electronics, and to follow established safety procedures.\n\n## Additional Information:\n\nExpected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup. Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, which include meeting needs and expectations of internal and external customers.\n\nPhysical Demands:\n\nAbility to lift a minimum of 35lbs with reasonable accommodation. Incumbent must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
