Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) is looking for an
Electrical System Design & Analysis Engineer
for the Energy and Propulsion Technology Capability Team.
The new team member will assist in design and layout of electrical systems and create Simulink and Speedgoat system control models utilized in a test lab environment.
The position is located at the
Berkeley,
Missouri
Boeing site and our team is currently hiring one new member; either at the Associate or Experienced level.
The lab work is done in BR&T’s Facility for Integration and Research of Subsystems Technologies (FIRST) Lab and supports both Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) and Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA).
In pursuit of Boeing's research interests, the successful candidate w ill be responsible for contributing to the design, development and implementation of control systems architectures for integrated systems testing of aircraft electrical power systems technologies. Further, they will help shape partnerships internally and externally and strengthen Boeing’s capability and expertise in electrical power systems related technology development efforts.
Position Responsibilities:Develops control software using Simulink and interfaces the software with test hardware through a Speedgoat real time computer.
Works with other team members and customers to develop electrical system test requirements. Electrical system testing involves working with aerospace generators, generator control units, power supplies, load banks, contactors, buses, etc.
Creates lab layouts and electrical schematics
Designs cable harnesses for the lab and work with technicians to have them fabricated.
Uses electrical system requirements to size and select test hardware and instrumentation.
Operates a station in the control room during testing. This involves watching test parameters, communicating with other engineers and making changes to graphical user interfaces (GUIs) during the test.
Works with suppliers and Boeing procurement to purchase lab equipment.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink
2+ years of experience with design, integration and/or test of electrical systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience utilizing electrical drawings tools such as Visio, Mentor Graphics
2+ years of lab and test experience
2+ years real time simulation with hardware in the loop experience
5+ years of experience with design, integration and/or test of electrical systems
5+ years of experience with Simulink
Experience with Speedgoat real time simulation and testing
Cable harness design experience, ideally with aerospace connectors
Instrumentation (voltage and current sensors) and calibration experience
Oscilloscope experience
Active U.S. Security Clearance
Typical Education/Experience:Associate (Level 2):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Experienced (Level 3):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range for associate: $79,900 - $108,100Summary pay range for mid-level: $96,050 - $129,950
