We are seeking a Service Testing Technician to support electrical testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear systems. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability and operational safety through detailed diagnostic testing and technical reporting.
The technician will perform both facility-based and field service work, assisting with the evaluation and maintenance of electrical power equipment used in industrial and customer environments. The ideal candidate has approximately two years of experience in electrical testing, equipment diagnostics, or manufacturing support and is comfortable working in industrial settings.
Travel for this role may account for approximately 35% of work assignments, with company-provided hotel accommodations, fuel coverage, and per diem support during customer site visits.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct electrical testing and diagnostic inspections on transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers
Perform specialized testing procedures including insulation resistance, turns ratio, winding resistance, power factor, hi-pot testing, and induced testing
Evaluate equipment performance and assist in identifying operational or electrical abnormalities
Document test procedures and compile detailed technical reports for engineering and quality teams
Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment during equipment setup and movement
Manage transformer oil processes including draining, filling, and inspection activities
Inspect transformer components and internal connections when authorized
Follow established environmental containment procedures and workplace safety guidelines
Communicate testing results, observations, and equipment conditions clearly to supervisors and clients
High School Diploma or GED
Approximately 2 years of experience in electrical testing, manufacturing, or industrial equipment diagnostics
Familiarity with transformer and switchgear testing procedures
Ability to operate electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely
Basic knowledge of transformer insulation materials and troubleshooting techniques
Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions
Willingness to travel approximately 35% of the time for field service assignments
Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and safety
Preferred Certifications
OSHA 10 Safety Certification
