Electrician

About the Role

The Electrician is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment through expert electrical repair and maintenance. This hands-on role requires experience with industrial control systems, including Allen Bradley PLCs, and a solid understanding of the National Electrical Code. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, the Electrician will play a critical role in minimizing downtime and supporting plant productivity. Commonly searched keywords include industrial electrician, PLC programming, machine maintenance, and electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical maintenance and repair tasks to support uninterrupted plant operations
• Troubleshoot and repair Allen Bradley PLC-2 controllers and interpret ladder diagrams
• Read and apply the National Electrical Code to all tasks and installations
• Design and build basic control circuits for machinery and facility systems
• Troubleshoot and repair relay logic, motor controls, and 3-phase 480V power systems
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Assist in machine repair and collaborate with maintenance teams as needed
• Maintain safety compliance with all lockout/tagout procedures and plant safety protocols
• Work both indoors and outdoors in varied environmental conditions, including exposure to noise and hot surfaces
• Use required PPE such as safety glasses, steel toe boots, and ear protection
• Document work and follow all ISO and company procedures
• Maintain positive professional relationships with vendors and contractors

Qualifications:

• State of Michigan Journeyman or Master Electrician License (required)
• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
• Completion of a registered apprenticeship program (minimum 4 years/8000 hours)
• Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and ladder logic
• Strong knowledge of 3-phase 480V power systems and motor controls
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics
• Understanding of national safety and electrical codes and standards
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications:

• Additional electrical certifications or technical training
• Experience working under ISO compliance and safety standards
• Familiarity with gainsharing or performance-based incentive systems
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in high-pressure environments
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting
• Comfortable with extensive physical activity, including climbing, crawling, and manual lifting
