Electrician Job Description

Click on job description above to see full details and requirements for the Electrician position.  The qualified applicant will be considered in a selectable position based on being able to acquire a City of Thibodaux Electrical License; have at least 2 years of previous electrical working experience; and on the basis which shall consider 40% training/experience and 60% oral examination. The oral examination (interview) will be announced at a later date. This position is in Grade 618 of the pay plan.  The minimum pay is $21.54 per hour.

Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.  Education:  Level of knowledge is high school diploma or equivalency.  Experience:  Over one year up to and including three years.  Valid operator’s license.  Must successfully pass the City of Thibodaux Electrical Licensing Exam prior to the employee completing his/her six (6) month working test period.  Must pass the required Civil Service exam and be in a selectable position.

Job Mission: The purpose of this position is to install and maintain electrical systems.  This is accomplished by troubleshooting; purchasing materials; servicing and repairing; reading diagrams and information for equipment; and operating machinery.  Other duties include managing employees; purchasing techniques, electrical, and mechanical systems; operating light equipment; designing electrical systems; estimating costs; evaluating contractors; supervising outsourced construction; inspecting and taking inventory; and holding responsibility for the operation and maintenance of emergency electrical systems.
