Job Description - Electrician Apprentice

Description

 

FUNCTION:  Electrician Apprentice provides support to the maintenance and capital projects team within various regions 

REPORTS TO: Construction Project Manager 

FLSA:   Non-Exempt 

SALARY:   $19.50 per hour 

SUMMARY: 

In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed electrician to learn the trade and assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential settings. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components. 
  • Learn and follow electrical codes and safety procedures. 
  • Pull wire, run conduit, and install electrical panels and fixtures. 
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively. 
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues under guidance. 
  • Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe working condition. 
  • Keep work areas clean and organized. 
  • Attend required training sessions and complete tasks to fulfill apprenticeship program requirements. 
  • Follow instructions from journeymen or master electricians. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 
  • Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program. 
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems is a plus. 
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. 
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and OSHA regulations. 
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods. 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for the role). 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Prior construction or electrical experience. 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. 
  • Basic tool knowledge. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Stand, walk or sit alternatively depending on specific needs of the day. Estimate 25% of time is spent on feet and 75% sitting at desk. 
  • Have occasional need (25% to 30% of the time) to perform the following physical activities: 
  • Bend/Stoop/Squat  Climb Stairs    
  • Push or Pull   Reach Above Shoulder  
  • Have frequent need (25% to 30% of the time) to perform standing and walking activities related to general office functions. 
  • Constant need (66% to 100% of time) to perform the following physical activities: 
  • Writing/Typing  Operation of office equipment 
  • Grasping/Turning  Telephone, doorknob use 
  • Finger Dexterity   
  • Lifting/Carrying (paperwork, deliveries, files, miscellaneous): 
  • Over 25 lbs.  Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) 
  • 20 lbs. - 25 lbs.  Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) 
  • Less than 20 lbs. Frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) 
  • Under 10 lbs.  Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) 

VISION REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to complete forms, read and review reports and a wide variety of correspondence, view computer screen. Frequent need to see small detail. 

HEARING REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to communicate over telephone and in person with property owners, corporate and resident management, vendors, and residents. 

SPEAKING REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) to communicate over telephone and in person. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Indoors/Outdoors (66% to 100% of the time).  

REASONING DEVELOPMENT

  • HIGH.  Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect pertinent data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and initiate appropriate course of action. Must effectively convey ideas, images and goals to a diverse group of personalities.
