Electrician- Fabrication Yard Houma, LA.

Main Purpose:

  To perform all electrical-related job functions assigned, providing preventive maintenance and/or electrical repairs to all electrical motors and related components owned or rented by Gulf Island in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Functions:

•  Perform routine maintenance such as changing worn electrical cables, plugs, sockets, fuses, switches, circuit breakers, etc., and checking electrical settings on welding machines to ensure efficient operations and performance.
•  Repair and overhaul electrical motors on overhead cranes and welding machines and replace applicable parts, such as armatures, brushes, wiring, etc.
•  As required, run electrical lines and install electrical hookups (outlets, 220 volts, 440 volts, etc.) in the fabrication yard.
•  Replace burned-out lights in office and shop areas.
• Repair electrical components in CB and two-way radios.
•  Ensure that all electrical motors, machines, equipment, and application components are operating in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to read schematics. 
•  Perform other related job duties as assigned by supervisor.

•  Lifting - employees must lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.

Job Requirements:

•  Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
•  Must be able to pass background checks to company policy.

Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:

•  Must have 3 years' experience as an electrician in an Industrial setting.
• Highschool diploma or GED.

Tools, Equipment, and Technology:

• Must have knowledge of and use hand tools associated/required to perform electrical maintenance and repair duties.
•  Must also know how to use voltage and other electrical detection meters. Must be able to read and write.
