The Electrician I is an entry-level skilled trades position responsible for installing, assembling, and testing electrical systems in modular homes within a manufacturing environment. Working under the guidance of senior electricians, this position supports the production process by installing branch circuits, electrical panels, wiring devices, lighting, and other electrical components in accordance with construction drawings, the National Electrical Code (NEC), company quality standards, and production schedules.

This position is ideal for individuals beginning their electrical career who are eager to learn residential electrical systems while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical wiring, boxes, receptacles, switches, lighting fixtures, smoke detectors, and other electrical components in modular homes.
• Pull and secure branch circuit wiring according to electrical plans and company standards.
• Assist with the installation and wiring of electrical service panels and load centers.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, production drawings, and specifications.
• Install wiring prior to insulation and drywall while maintaining production quality standards.
• Perform continuity and quality checks on completed electrical installations.
• Identify and report electrical defects, material shortages, or production issues to supervisors.
• Maintain production schedules by completing assigned work efficiently and accurately.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and electrical testing equipment.
• Follow OSHA safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations using 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Work collaboratively with framing, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, and finish teams to ensure efficient production flow.
• Assist with loading, staging, and organizing electrical materials.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality and manufacturing efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of residential electrical systems.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use common hand and power tools.
• Ability to interpret basic construction drawings and electrical layouts.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• Completion of a vocational electrical program or enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship.
• 1–2 years of residential electrical or construction experience.
• Experience in residential construction, manufactured housing, or modular home production.
• OSHA 10 Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of residential electrical installation methods.
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) preferred.
• Ability to safely use electrical hand tools and testing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow standardized work instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while meeting daily production goals.
• Willingness to learn Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently stand, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work overhead.
• Ability to work inside partially completed modular homes and manufacturing facilities.
• Manual dexterity to install wiring and electrical components.
• Ability to distinguish wire colors accurately.

Work Environment

• Indoor manufacturing facility with year-round production.
• Exposure to construction materials, noise, dust, and power equipment.
• Fast-paced, team-oriented production environment with daily productivity and quality expectations.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, bump caps and safety footwear.

Work Hours & Benefits

Shifts are currently 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday (Summer Hours 7:00am - 4:15pm Monday - Thursday; 7:00am - 12:00pm Friday). Depending on skill and experience, the salary is $20-$24/hr.
