Summary:

The Electrician Lead manages the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, backup power generators, call systems, fire alarm systems and specialized medical equipment (beds, stretchers and wheelchairs), ensuring compliance with strict healthcare safety codes and the national electrical code. The Electrician Lead acts as a working foreman, providing technical expertise, leading team projects, supervising junior staff, and coordinating with individual hospital departments and contractors.

 

Responsibilities:

1) Maintenance & Repair: Performs advanced maintenance on electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, and motor controls.

2) Emergency Power Systems: Operates, tests, and oversees emergency backup generators and automatic transfer switches.

3) Leadership: Assigns daily tasks to maintenance staff, trains technicians, and provides project-specific guidance. Ability to lead teams, solve problems, and communicate with management.

4) Compliance: Ensures all work meets NFPA 99, local, state, and national electrical codes.

5) System Upgrades: Interprets blueprints and complex diagrams to install and modernize lighting, power, and signal systems.

6) Administrative/Project Management: Orders materials, manages inventory, interacts with vendors, and oversees contractor work to ensure safety compliance.

7) Technical Supervision & Quality Control: Supervising onsite work to ensure compliance with blueprints, schematics, and industry standards.

8) Safety Compliance: Enforcing safety regulations (e.g., LOTO), conducting safety inspections, and conducting hazard analysis.

9) Documentation & Budgeting: Maintaining project records, managing material and inventory.

10) Maintains and models the organization's values.

11) Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

12) Performs other duties as required.

 

Education Skills Experience:

HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

 

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
