Job Description - Electronic Engineering Technologist (4-Week IPC Specialist Training)

The TXRX Labs Electronic Engineering Technologist (EET) Extended Training is a certification-aligned, intensive hands-on 4-week training program that will prepare students to produce professional electronic components upon completion.

After an initial week of foundational skill-building and electronic theory, students will immediately begin assembling non-critical, real-world electronic devices for our employer partners. The rest of the training focuses on professional quality production and efficiency.

Students will become skilled in class-3 soldering techniques and will be encouraged to apply and test for IPC-J-STD-001 certification. Although certifications may help students earn a job, we have found that true skills and experience are more important to employers.

We will be testing your abilities to find a match for one of our manufacturing employer partners.

*Eligible Trainees may be a fit for a paid apprenticeship or internship with one of our employer partners. UNPAID TRAINING. TXRX Labs provides industry recognized certification at NO COST.

-----

As an EET Trainee: You will apply electronic knowledge, mostly under the direction of an instructor, to assemble, repair, and modify electronic components for subsequent evaluation by the instructor.

Your duties will include:

  • Studying text material given during allotted class time and at personal discretion
  • Asking questions to further understand content regarding both certifications
  • Practicing techniques visually demonstrated by the instructor for building skills toward the IPC-J-STD-001 certification
  • Reviewing lecture notes before all module exams and keeping organized notes that can be referenced in preparation for all module exams
  • Learn to inspect assemblies for quality control
  • Learn to assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to schematics and technical manuals

Schedule (ongoing, monthly):

  • 4 weeks total
  • 9:00am - 2:00pm
  • Week 1 is [Tuesday - Thursday]
  • Weeks 2 through 4 are [Monday - Thursday]

-----

Equity: TXRX Labs believes strongly in supporting under-resourced and disadvantaged communities, and we believe in each individual’s ability to grow their skills rapidly to a professional level. TXRX Labs is a place for everyone to learn their own way. To level the playing field, we offer additional support services to community members dealing with the following challenges (now or in the past):
