Salary: $4,124 – $5,714 ($4,408 - $6,114 PERS) 

Type: Permanent, Full-time, Non-Exempt 

 

We are seeking an Electronic Grant Management System Technician (Accounting Technician) to join our Fiscal Grants Team of the Office of Finance at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent position, represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). 
 

This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be  when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office. 

 

What you will do!   

The Oregon Department of Education is seeking an Accounting Technician to support the Electronic Grants Management System (EGMS) for grants awarded by the department as well as the testing and implementation of the grant management system replacing EGMS. 
 

Typical duties include: 

 

  • You will provide Electronic Grants Management System (EGMS) support to internal and external users by providing technical assistance and guidance for best practices. 

 

  • You will process sub-grant information forms and updating data into Electronic Grants Management System (EGMS). 

 

  • You will review and analyze sub-grants for accurate and consistent information.  

 

  • You will create and maintaining sub-grant files including correspondence, grant related materials, applications, and archive files. 

 

  • You will ensure EGMS is running as intended in consultation with supervisors and EGMS coordinators and providing input for continued system improvements.

Minimum Qualifications: ODE reviews resumes to determine whether applicants meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Two years of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits;  

 

OR 

 

One year of experience calculating, recording, and maintaining accounting information that must include coding transactions and checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits AND at least 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2;  

 

OR 

 

Successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program from an accredited college or university;  

 

OR 

 

At least 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) credit hours in accounting. Credit hours must include introductory level accounting courses 1 and 2 and may include any additional accounting courses with “accounting” in the title. 

 

*Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.

  • Experience providing customer service, internally and externally with business partners. 

 

  • Demonstrated experience taking initiative and being self-motivated in order to accomplish daily tasks.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
