Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electronic Security Design Engineer to join our growing technical team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing comprehensive, integrated electronic security systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients.
You will translate client requirements into robust technical realities—creating detailed engineering drawings, system architectures, and bills of materials (BOM) for technologies including Access Control, IP Video Surveillance (CCTV), Intrusion Detection, and Perimeter Protection.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering: Develop comprehensive technical designs, schematics, and line diagrams for integrated electronic security systems.
Site Surveys & Assessments: Conduct thorough site evaluations (or analyze architectural plans) to identify security vulnerabilities and determine optimal equipment placement.
Documentation & Blueprints: Utilize CAD/Revit software to produce precise floor plans, riser diagrams, installation details, and control panel layouts.
Specification & Compliance: Select appropriate hardware/software and generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM). Ensure all designs comply with local building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industry standards (e.g., UL, NFPA).
Pre-Sales Collaboration: Partner with the sales and estimating teams to provide technical scope-of-work narratives and accurate labor/material estimates for RFPs and proposals.
Project Handover: Provide clear, detailed engineering packages to the project management and installation teams to ensure seamless deployment
Qualifications & Skills
Required Experience:
Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated experience in engineering/designing commercial electronic security systems.
Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Visio, Excel).
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of enterprise-level Access Control Systems (e.g., Software House, LenelS2, AMAG, Honeywell).
Advanced knowledge of IP Video Management Systems (VMS) and analytics (e.g., Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon).
Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches, routers, PoE allocation, and bandwidth calculation).
