Job Description - Electronics Maintenance Technician Journeyman

The Electronics Maintenance Technician is responsible for the testing, repair, and determining disposition of electronic systems and components. Conducts Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) operations, enforces internal quality control standards, and performs evaluation and functional testing of system assets prior to shipping, and maintains records of component status and all work performed.


Develops and Implements processes and procedures to effectively test and configure products, systems, and components to ensure the complete system is fully mission capable (FMC) prior to shipment to the customer. 


The Electronics Maintenance Technician will rely on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish a variety of tasks to include utilizing electrical test equipment (i.e., digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes) to meet program goals.


Responsibilities


The Maintenance section is responsible for ensuring that all major mechanical and electronic assemblies are FMC before entering the shipping process. The Electronics Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following activities and processes:



  • Conduct full physical/visual inspections of all system components to ensure that systems are complete IAW standards.

  • Conduct functional checks of system operating hardware/software to identify and correct any deficiencies or system faults found to ensure the systems are ready for deployment.

  • Performs the installation and testing of software releases, and system upgrades and perform Burn-In of sensor equipment to ensure full operability IAW with OEM specifications, and interfaces with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on unusual system anomalies.

  • Perform repairs based on results from troubleshooting. If equipment cannot be repaired, request disposition.

  • Capture equipment status (disposition and condition code) in Catalog Ordering Logistic Tracking System (COLTS) database.

  • Interact with engineering during the integration of products and software.

  • Provide identification of any functional issues and provide recommended solutions.

  • Upon successful testing, attach proper documentation to components (DD 1574-1 Serviceable Tag, or equivalent).

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance checks and services in accordance with Government requirements and OEM documentation as part of Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS).

  • Record equipment status information and data to reflect current FMC, Partially Mission Capable (PMC) and Non-Mission Capable (NMC) status for tested equipment into COLTS.

  • Update COLTS as needed for open issues, requested parts, installed parts, parts tests, item locations.

  • Troubleshoots fiber optic cabling and electrical wiring.


Required Qualifications/Skills



  • 10+ years of applicable experience related to military or Government contract work.

  • Experience interacting with vendors and government customers.

  • Experience troubleshooting Cisco equipment and other brands of networking equipment.

  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring and block diagrams.

  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRU).

  • Able to test electronic system wiring and fiber optics cabling utilizing wiring diagrams and associated drawings.


  • Desired Skills:



    • Experience operating software-based systems utilizing Graphic User Interfaces (GUIs).

    • Familiarity with operating 2K, 3K and 5K Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).




  • Education Requirements:


    BS/BA related to this job description, combination of experience, training and education may be considered in lieu of degree.
