Responsibilities:
The Special Procedures Technician performs advanced imaging and interventional procedures under the direction of a radiologist. This role involves operating specialized equipment, assisting with minimally invasive procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. Prepare and maintain the procedure room, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
Maintain a professional image and deliver excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues in alignment with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Prepare and position patients for specialized procedures such as angiography, interventional radiology, and cardiac catheterization.
Operate fluoroscopy and other advanced imaging equipment during procedures, ensuring diagnostic image quality.
Assist physicians with sterile technique, procedural setup, and on-call assignments as needed.
Monitor patient vital signs throughout procedures and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies.
Document all procedures accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) and maintain compliance with organizational policies.
Ensure radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance; perform routine equipment checks and quality control measures.
Select and apply appropriate technical factors based on patient body habitus, pathology, and anatomy.
Continue professional development through ongoing education programs and in-service training.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in diagnostic imaging; prior experience in interventional or special procedures preferred.
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
ARRT Certification in Radiography required
Additional certification in Cardiac-Interventional (CI) or Vascular-Interventional (VI) preferred.
State licensure as required.
BLS and ACLS required
