Elementary ELA Tutor (Bilingual - Spanish) - Queens

Position Overview

Toolkit Tutors is seeking a dedicated and bilingual (English/Spanish) Elementary ELA Tutor to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This role is based in an elementary school in Queens, supporting students in grades K–5 with 1:1 and small-group instruction. While the primary focus is English Language Arts, some mathematics support will also be required. The position involves a mix of push-in and pull-out tutoring, and all work takes place at the school campus.

Tutors will work closely with school faculty and administrators to deliver high-quality instruction, track student progress, and contribute to an engaging, supportive learning environment.

Schedule & Compensation

• Pay: $31/hour (W2 position)
• Hours: 6 hours/day (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM), 4 days/week (Monday – Thursday)
• Dates: October 6, 2025 – June 12, 2026 (excluding school/public holidays)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group tutoring in ELA (and some mathematics) to students in grades K–5.
• Implement Toolkit’s K-5 ELA curriculum and adapt lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Submit daily reports of tutoring activities and student progress.
• Coordinate regularly with classroom teachers, school faculty, and administrators.
• Support Toolkit’s mission of delivering consistent, high-impact tutoring in NYC schools.

• At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in elementary ELA (in-person).
• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to teach in either language.
• Strong preference for candidates already fingerprinted with NYCDOE.
• Must reside within 1 hour 15 minutes of the school location in Queens, NY.
