Primary Duties And Responsibilities
The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) performs select technical procedures and tasks, and assists physicians and nurses in direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
Technical procedures include:
The ECT also provides transportation, maintains equipment and supplies as well as participates in a safe patient care environment.
May serve as Lobby Facilitator and assists the triage nurse by performing first aid duties and acting as a liaison between the ED team, patients, and families to patients in the ED Lobby.
May perform other duties as assigned and described within scope of practice.
ECT’s with additional competencies may perform phlebotomy and accucheck.
The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) works directly under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) providing bedside patient care and anticipating patient needs.
We have current openings at Hoag Hospital Irvine. All openings are full-time, night shift.
Education and Experience
Recent experience as an EMT or Patient Care Assistant or Military Corpsman, preferred.
Certifications Required
Current BLS Certifications required, and
Either:
Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification, or
Completion of EMT course, or
RN License
Certifications Preferred
Phlebotomy Certification
