Job Summary

The Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) supports physicians and nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced emergency room setting. This role assists with patient care, performs basic clinical procedures, and ensures the department operates efficiently while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist nurses and physicians with patient care, treatments, and procedures
• Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, splinting, wound care, and specimen collection (as permitted)
• Transport patients to and from diagnostic areas or inpatient units
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to nursing staff promptly
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization in the ED
• Stock and restock medical supplies and equipment
• Assist in emergency situations, including CPR and trauma response 

Skills 

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Basic clinical and technical skills
• Excellent observational and problem-solving abilities

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalency required
• Clinical experience in an acute care-nursing environment preferred.  

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
