Job Description - Emergency Medicine Physician

JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Physician – Emergency Medicine

• Job Type: Locum Tenens

• Location: Kilgore, TX

• Service Setting: Inpatient

• Coverage Type: Clinical Only

• Coverage Period: 07/01/2025 – Open (Estimated length of assignment: 1 year)

• Clinical Shift Schedule: 7a–7p and 7p–7a (12-hour shifts)

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics (typical ED case mix)

• Patient Volume/Census: Approx. 15,000 annual visits; approx. 40 patients per day

• Admissions: About 5.4% admission rate

• Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION

• No. of Beds in Department: 11 ED beds; no fast track

• EMR System: Epic

• Support Staff Available: 8 hours of NPPA coverage on Mondays

• Reason for Coverage: System-wide locum coverage need

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (60+ days expedited possible)

• Credentialing Timeline: 90+ days (temps possible)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Rate: TBD

• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance is covered

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• General Emergency Medicine procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Active Texas medical license required

• Certifications:

- ABEM or ABFM/ABIM with ED experience

- ATLS, ACLS, and PALS required for non-ABEM physicians

- ABEM physicians exempt from ATLS, ACLS, and PALS requirement

• Experience: Emergency Medicine experience required for non-ABEM trained providers

• Other Qualifications: Flu vaccine required (waiver allowed)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide emergency medical care to approximately 40 patients per day

• Cover 12-hour shifts as part of a 24-hour MD daily coverage model

• Complete documentation in Epic EMR system

• Participate in orientation and EMR training prior to first shift
