JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Physician – Emergency Medicine (ABEM)

• Job Type: Locum Tenens

• Location: Blacksburg, VA

• Service Setting: Emergency Department (Hospital + Freestanding ED)

• Coverage Type: Clinical Only

• Coverage Period: 06/18/2025 – Ongoing

• Clinical Shift Schedule: Montgomery ED – 7a–7p, 2p–10p, 7p–7a; Christiansburg ED – 7a–7p, 7p–7a

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics

• Patient Volume/Census: 32,000 annual ED volume

• Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION

• Trauma Level: Level III Trauma Center

• EMR System: Meditech

• Specialty Backup Available: Cardiovascular, Orthopedics

• Support Staff Available: 32 hours of physician coverage + 32 hours of NP/PA coverage daily

• Reason for Coverage: Full-Time Vacancy

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Rate: TBD

• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• General Emergency Medicine procedures as applicable

• History of ATLS required; ACLS and PALS if not EM Boarded

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Active VA license and DEA required to start

• Certifications: ABEM or AOBEM; ACLS, ATLS, and PALS if not EM Boarded

• Experience: Must be board certified or board eligible within 7 years of residency completion

• Other Qualifications: Will cross-credential at LewisGale Christiansburg

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide emergency medical care at the assigned facility

• Work a flexible schedule across day, evening, and night shifts

• Collaborate with APPs and other staff to provide timely and high-quality emergency services

• Maintain documentation within Meditech EMR system

• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and emergency medicine standards
