About the Position:

Position is split between Houlton Regional Hospital in Houlton, ME and Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, ME. Minimum 60/40 split.

About the Houlton Regional Hospital:

Houlton Regional Hospital (HRH) is a 25-bed critical access acute care facility located in Southern Aroostook County that was just presented with the Leapfrog organization's Top Rural Hospital award for the second year in a row. HRH was the only rural hospital in Maine to be given this award for 2022.

Our hospital serves the needs of approximately 17,000 people in a wide geographic area, bordered by New Brunswick, Canada to the East. Its catchment area includes a significant geriatric population.

The ED sees about 11,500 patients per year; 25-35 patients a day and is staffed with single 24-hour physician coverage with additional overnight APP coverage.

There is a small increase in volume in the summer months with many vacationers enjoying various outdoor activities our great state has to offer.

There is plenty of opportunity to maintain skill and competency, as we often manage critically ill patients awaiting transfer to tertiary care centers.

The Houlton Physician Practices include Family Practice, Pain Management, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Urology, Podiatry and General Surgery Services, as well as specialty services in our Outpatient Clinics.

Houlton gives you access to all that Maine has to offer and everything is in your “back yard”. Mount Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail is located just south of Houlton. When you mention the state of Maine, most people immediately think of “The Great Outdoors”. Majestic mountains, rugged coastline, expansive forests, clean lakes – nature the way it was.

About Mid Coast Hospital:

Mid Coast Hospital is a full-service community hospital located in Brunswick, ME. It is a 93-bed, not-for-profit hospital that serves 32,000 emergency patients per year. Mid Coast is a Maine Health Community Hospital and was the first community hospital in Maine to be recognized as a Magnet hospital. 

About the Midcoast Area:      

Brunswick, Maine, a designated Main Street Community, is a quintessential college town in Midcoast Maine with a convenient Amtrak Station with service to Boston located steps from downtown. Bowdoin College, founded in 1794, sits in the heart of the town on a beautiful campus.

The Midcoast region is a treasure trove of beautiful beaches, rugged coastline and picturesque New England towns. It has both good strong communities and easy access to the amenities of Portland, making it a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
