Must-Have Qualifications (Do Not Apply Without These)

️ Active Iowa RN license or multistate license allowing practice in Iowa
️ BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (PALS must be obtained within 6 months if not current)
️ Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months of hire
️ Iowa Mandatory Reporter Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certification
️ Demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize patients in a high-volume ED
️ Strong documentation and EMR skills clarity, accuracy, and speed matter here

Nice-to-Haves (Preferred Candidates Will Bring):

• Prior emergency nursing experience in a hospital setting

• Background in critical care or trauma unit

• Familiarity with Meditech or other EMRs

• Comfort with independent clinical judgment and escalation protocols

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

You won't be bored. You'll rotate through fast-track, triage, trauma, and main ED. You will:

• Assess, stabilize, and treat a wide range of emergency conditions

• Rapidly initiate care protocols: code strokes, STEMIs, trauma codes, respiratory distress

• Administer medications and IV therapies following 10 rights and hospital standards

• Collaborate with physicians, EMS, radiology, lab, and social services

• Document interventions and patient responses with precision

• Use your voice: escalate concerns and advocate for patients when things dont feel right

• Respond to behavioral and psychiatric emergencies with de-escalation and team safety in mind

• Educate patients and families before discharge or admission

• Ensure all infection control, fall prevention, and safety procedures are followed

Shift Details

• Night shift (includes weekends and holidays on a rotation)

• 12-hour shifts

• No remote or hybrid option
