Description

Are you an animal lover with a passion for helping animals in need? We have the perfect opportunity for you! All Breed Pet Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency veterinary team. In this role, you will be an integral part of our fast-paced and intense environment, providing critical care to animals in their time of need. This is a full-time position and shift hours are 8pm – 8am on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide patient care, including administering medications and treatments, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining records 
  • Assist the veterinarian in surgeries and emergency procedures 
  • Communicate with pet owners and provide education on animal care and post-operative instructions 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing equipment and maintaining inventory levels 
  • Assist with reception duties, such as answering phones and scheduling appointments 
  • Assist with laboratory procedures, such as collecting blood samples and preparing samples for analysis 
  • Comply with all hospital policies and procedures

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Hourly compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications and experience.  
  • Rate of pay includes differential for overnights/3rd shift. 
  • Higher compensation available for active credentialed veterinary technicians

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or a related field preferred 
  • Experience in an emergency veterinary setting 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills 
  • Certified or licensed as a veterinary assistant 
  • 1-2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant or similar role 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and intense environment 
  • Passion for pets and their health and well-being.
