Job Summary
The Social & Emotional Wellness Coordinator supports BGCSENC’s organization-wide effort to become a fully trauma-informed Club by delivering on-site trauma-informed programming, staff coaching, and referral coordination at their assigned Club (Nixon or Vance). Working under the direct supervision of the Director of Youth Wellness & Trauma-Informed Care, this part-time role helps translate the 12-month, four-phase Trauma-Informed Practices Initiative (Foundation, Expansion, Deepening, Sustaining) into day-to-day practice supporting staff, youth, and families in alignment with BGCA’s Seven Elements of a Trauma-Informed Club: Awareness, Safety, Trust, Equity, Empowerment/Voice & Choice, Mutual Collaboration, and Connection & Growth.
Major Responsibilities
1. Site-Based Trauma-Informed Leadership
Serve as the on-site champion for trauma-informed practice at the assigned Club (Nixon or Vance), modeling and reinforcing BGCA’s Seven Elements of a Trauma-Informed Club in daily programming.
Provide real-time coaching and de-escalation support to front-line staff during programming.
Participate in the Trauma-Informed Practices Committee chaired by the Director of Youth Wellness & Trauma-Informed Care, contributing site-level data and updates at monthly meetings (10 meetings/year).
2. Staff Coaching & Referral Coordination
Coach front-line staff on trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques through regular check-ins.
Coordinate youth referrals to BGCSENC’s network of 5–10 local mental health agencies and community partners, documenting 100% of referrals in the shared referral log and tracking outcomes to successful connection.
Report referral, coaching, and site-level metrics to the Director for inclusion in the initiative’s quarterly progress reports.
3. Training & Certification
Complete the comprehensive trauma-informed care (TIC) training cohort
Work toward BGCA Club Trauma-Informed Specialist certification through the TIP specialization cohort, targeted for completion by Month 9.
Obtain Youth Mental Health First Aid certification within 90 days of hire, or maintain current certification.

Additional Responsibilities
● Attend required staff meetings, supervision check-ins, and professional development trainings.
● Complete all required BGCA and BGCSENC safety trainings.
● Participate in the annual staff wellness retreat and ongoing staff-appreciation efforts.
● Support organizational events, family engagement activities, and community outreach initiatives.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Relationships
Internal: Works closely with the Director of Youth Wellness & Trauma-Informed Care, site leadership, Program staff, and the other Social & Emotional Wellness Coordinator to ensure coordinated implementation of trauma-informed practices.
External: Builds relationships with youth, parents and caregivers, schools, mental health agencies, and community partners supporting youth wellness and trauma-informed care.
