About the Role Baratz & Associates, P.A. is seeking a Staff Accountant I – Audit to join our Employee Benefit Plan audit practice. This role is ideal for an early‑career professional who is eager to build a strong foundation in Taft‑Hartley and multiemployer employee benefit plan auditing while working closely with experienced seniors, managers, and partners. You will gain hands‑on exposure to all phases of an audit while developing technical skills, professional judgment, and client communication abilities.
Responsibilities
Assist in the execution of employee benefit plan audits, including Taft‑Hartley and multiemployer plans.
Perform assigned audit procedures under supervision, including:
Testing contributions, benefit payments, investments, and participant data.
Preparing audit workpapers in accordance with firm methodology.
Obtain and organize client documentation and follow up on audit requests.
Identify audit issues and communicate findings to senior team members.
Learn and apply U.S. GAAP and GAAS as they relate to employee benefit plans.
Maintain organized, clear, and complete audit documentation in a paperless environment.
Participate in audit planning meetings and team discussions.
Demonstrate professionalism in client interactions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university.
Actively working toward CPA eligibility.
0–2 years of audit or public accounting experience (internship experience preferred).
Strong interest in employee benefit plan auditing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with audit software and QuickBooks a plus.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
