Job Description - Employee Benefits Producer

Our client is a well-established provider of employee benefits, benefits administration software, and HR services. They began by offering automated solutions for benefits administration before expanding into selling benefits services directly. Today, they specialize in group medical, dental, vision, and life coverage for small businesses and associations, as well as third-party HR solutions for companies needing part-time HR support. To support their team, they offer employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.

They are seeking an Employee Benefits Producer to drive new business development through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and closing sales. This is a blended inside and outside sales role, requiring a driven professional who can generate their own leads and build strong client relationships. The role includes a structured learning hour each day to stay updated on industry trends and refine sales strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate new business through cold calling, networking, and referrals
  • Schedule and attend client meetings, consulting on employee benefits solutions
  • Develop relationships with associations, referral networks, and partnerships
  • Maintain and update leads in the CRM system
  • Stay informed on industry trends and participate in daily sales training sessions
  • Close deals and manage renewals, transitioning to 100% commission once renewal commissions exceed draw amount

Qualifications:

  • Proven new business development experience with a hunter mentality
  • Strong cold-calling skills, including structured phone blocks and in-person prospecting
  • Experience utilizing referral networks, associations, and client referrals
  • Active WA Life & Health/Disability license
  • Familiarity with structured sales methodologies (Sandler Sales experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree required (must have at least 5 years of post-graduate work experience)
  • No job hoppers (maximum of 3 jobs in the past 10 years)
  • Resilience to handle long sales cycles, with potential for one major sale per client annually
  • Background in industries such as UniFirst, Colonial Life, Fastenal, Equitable Advisors, or AFLAC is a plus

Compensation:

  • $50K–$60K base/draw for candidates from a captive agency with experience
  • $70K–$75K base/draw for candidates from an independent agency
