Job Description - Employee Health LVN (Atwater)

Under the supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, and in collaboration with clinical personnel, the Employee Health LVN coordinates and delivers employee health services organization-wide. This role plays a critical part in onboarding, regulatory compliance, administrative tasks related to employee health, education and vaccines. Supports ongoing employee wellness by ensuring health clearances, vaccinations, and regulatory documentation is completed accurately, timely, and with a high-level confidentiality.


Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Position will be based in Atwater or Modesto, with occasional travel to Merced and Stanislaus County sites to support new hire physicals.


Compensation: $32.55 - $34.25 an hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:     



  • Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Supports the mission, vision, values and strategy of Golden Valley Health Centers by providing excellent employee health related services.

  • Reviews immunization records and health documentation in preparation for provider-led new hire physicals.

  • Educates candidates and employees on vaccination requirements, declinations, and next steps; ensures proper documentation is completed and maintained.

  • Leads annual regulatory health and compliance, including tracking, follow-up and reporting.

  • Administers required vaccines when records are incomplete or missing, in accordance with protocols and scope of practice.

  • Orders and reviews titers; documents results and clearances in designated tracking systems.

  • Collaborates, reviews and provides clinical input related to workers’ compensation and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) matters in partnership with the leaves department and employee health provider.

  • Performs and documents mask fit testing in compliance with OSHA and organizational requirements.

  • Serves as a liaison for new hires arriving at clinic sites for physicals and clearances, ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and professional experience.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee medical information in compliance with HIPAA, ADA, and organizational policies.

  • Ensures equipment and supplies for completion of employee health matters are readily available.

  • Works collaboratively with the quality team and operational management to promote infection control and safety projects.

  • Assists with readiness audits, participates in assigned committees and taskforces.

  • Adhere to general health center compliance with quality assurance, mandated reporting, consent, and confidentiality policies/procedures.

  • Proactively assumes responsibility for continuous improvement of scope of employee health, leveraging technology and identifying efficiency gaps.

  • Provides training support as needed for regulatory competencies and CPR.

  • Regular travel to assigned sites, and as required for training, meetings and job duties.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Physical Demands



  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients/equipment may involve lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds, should be done with assistance as appropriate. 

  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry patients.

  • Must be able to hear staff/clients on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.

  • Must have vision with or without lenses that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.

  • Must have high manual dexterity.

  • Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.


Work Environment



  • Exposure to biohazards, including infectious material and waste and any other conditions common in a health care environment.

  • Subject to unpleasant odors.

  • The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, but may at times be noisy and crowded.


Education/Experience Requirements     


Minimum Qualifications



  • Proficient with MS Office – Word, excel and power point; and general computer applications.

  • Warm, kind, and approachable nursing presence that helps candidates and employees feel comfortable sharing health history.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and trustworthiness when handling highly confidential information.

  • Collaborative team member who enjoys supporting both clinical operations and behind-the-scenes compliance work.

  • Flexible, innovative, results focused.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Data entry accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience with electronic health records, Epic experience preferred.

  • Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, reliable transportation and acceptable driving record.


Education/Experience



  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional vocational nursing.

  • Current unencumbered Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of CA.

  • Current BLS CPR certified by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

  • Three (3) years of experience in employee health, occupational health, or adult medicine experience required.
