As an Employee Relations Specialist in our Human Resources department, you will be a key partner in enabling and fostering the Forest Lawn culture. You will partner directly with talented, caring, and compassionate employees in various departments such as, Mortuary, Funeral Services, Maintenance, Sales and Technology Services. You will also work closely with HR, legal counsel, and organizational leaders to develop and tactfully execute HR strategies focused on employee relations, inclusion, organizational effectiveness, training, and employee engagement.

Our Human Resources team is located in Glendale, CA and is responsible for supporting 13 Forest Lawn locations throughout Southern California.

Key Job Responsibilities/ What You'll Be Doing (ie. Job Duties)

Maintain and foster effective lines of communication with all employees and management.
Provide general information to employees and management regarding Forest Lawn policies, practices, and procedures.
Assist employees in resolving work related concerns.
Conduct workplace internal investigations and provide recommendations as to appropriate action and resolution.
Participate in conducting employee surveys and assist with analyzing responses and creating action plans from survey results.
Conduct New Hire Orientation which includes a guided tour of Forest Lawn Glendale.
Conduct exit interviews.
Assist with annual training programs
Respond to EDD Unemployment Claims and attend unemployment appeal hearings.
Maintain state and federal employment compliance standards; consult with legal counsel as needed.
Maintain, monitor and ensure the accurate completion of I-9 documents. Notifying employees in writing of document renewal dates.
Evaluate and propose recommendations to current department programs and processes to ensure best practices.
Compile data for annual and semi-annual reports.
Gather HR Metrics information on a quarterly basis including turnover rates, track of exit interviews with reasons for separations.
Stay informed of Human Resources developments and trends by attending seminars and webinars.
Participate in the annual Wage & Salary Review process by conducting research and provide recommendations.
Engage recruitment agencies, screen temporary employee candidates and manage temporary employee records.
Participate in special programs as requested by the association.
Required Qualifications

A minimum 3 years of Human Resources experience
Ability to travel to different Forest Lawn locations
Valid California Driver's License
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university (will consider degree in progress)
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM CP certification
Knowledge of CA Labor Laws

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Prior to beginning employment, all job applicants who receive a job offer will be required to voluntarily submit to a drug screening test conducted by a laboratory designated by Forest Lawn. The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.

E-VERIFY STATEMENT

Forest Lawn has registered to participate in the federal government's E-Verify program. With E-Verify we are able to confirm the employment authorization of all newly hired employees through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. With respect to new hires, the E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with a new hire's completion of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification upon commencement of employment. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.
