Job Description - Employer Engagement Manager

Job Description

The Information School Career Services team has an outstanding opportunity for an Employer Engagement Manager to join their team.

About this Opportunity

Working within the Career Services team means joining an energetic and highly fast-paced environment where we rely heavily on current technologies to meet the demands of the School and our constituencies. The Employer Engagement Manager works to build and foster relationships with industry and community organizations to increase mentorship, internship, and employment opportunities for iSchool students in all four of our programs (Informatics, MSIM, MLIS, and PhD). Reporting to the Assistant Director for Career Services, this person will implement targeted employer and alumni outreach to promote iSchool students and engage employers on and off campus in a variety of programming including recruitment, networking, mentorship, industry panels, professional development workshops, and workplace tours.

This position works closely with the Career Services staff to provide leadership to develop career programs and services for targeted student populations and supports annual events such as the iSchool Career Fair.  The Employer Engagement Manager will work closely with students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and other UW departments.

Key Responsibilities

Employer Relationship Management (40%)

  • Build and grow a strategic portfolio of employer partnerships across industries, connecting companies with iSchool talent through targeted outreach and relationship cultivation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employer partners, guiding their recruitment strategies to effectively engage iSchool students through job postings, campus visits, career fairs, and events.
  • Develop and execute marketing and communication campaigns to attract local and national employers and expand the iSchool's visibility in the talent marketplace.
  • Champion inclusive hiring by sharing best practices with employers around diversity, equity, inclusion, and international student engagement.
  • Stay current on workforce trends and labor market shifts, applying insights to strengthen employer engagement and student outcomes.

Employer Programming Management (30%)

  • Conceptualize and lead a dynamic calendar of employer and alumni engagement events - from industry panels and networking nights to resume reviews and mock interviews.
  • Drive the planning and execution of the annual iSchool Career Fair and MLIS Career Week, coordinating across teams to deliver a high-impact experience for students and employers.
  • Design and deliver at least three DEI-centered employer events annually, ensuring equitable access to professional opportunities for all students.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with faculty, advisors, student organizations, and the Advancement Office to create cohesive employer engagement programming.

Mentorship Program Management (20%)

  • Partner with faculty to strategically grow the iMentorship program, centering equity and inclusion in program design, participant recruitment, and ongoing support.
  • Oversee mentor-student matching, onboarding, and training, while managing program communications and the annual participant recognition event.

Data Management (5%)

  • Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of first-destination and internship outcome surveys, translating data into compelling narratives about student career success.
  • Produce the annual Career Services report, synthesizing engagement metrics, hiring trends, and industry insights to inform strategy and communicate impact.

Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture through active participation in school and university initiatives, professional development, and cross-functional projects.
