SUMMARY
The Employment Coordinator for the Economic Empowerment Institute at YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is responsible for coordinating employment opportunities between local businesses and internal workforce teams. This role focuses on employer engagement, job development, internal collaboration, data entry, and reporting to support successful job placement and retention outcomes for participants across workforce programs.
The Employment Coordinator serves as a connector between employers, internal staff, and community partners to identify job openings, share employment leads, support hiring activities, and ensure accurate documentation of employment outcomes.
COLLABORATES WITH
The Employment Coordinator works closely with employer partners, the business community, Economic Empowerment staff, program participants, other YWCA departments, community representatives, and workforce partner agencies.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Employment Coordination & Job Development
- Design and execute employment coordination and job development strategies that connect YWCA participants to employment opportunities across multiple industries
- Engage local employers to identify job openings, employment leads, and hiring needs
- Communicate job opportunities and hiring needs to internal workforce teams and support participant referrals to employment
- Meet monthly job development, placement, and retention goals and provide updates to program leadership
Performance & Outcomes
- Work toward and achieve individual and program-level performance goals, including job development, job placements, employment retention, employer engagement, and timely and accurate data entry
- Monitor progress toward monthly and quarterly performance targets and adjust outreach, employer engagement, and coordination strategies as needed
- Provide regular updates to program leadership on performance progress, challenges, and outcomes
Employer Engagement & Retention Support
- Arrange and support employer engagement activities such as job fairs, hiring events, company presentations, interviews, and employer meetings
- Maintain ongoing communication with employer's post-placement to support retention and address any job performance concerns
- Support job retention efforts through employer follow-up and coordination with internal workforce teams
Internal Collaboration & Outreach
- Collaborate with internal workforce teams to align employer needs with participant readiness and program goals
- Attend and represent YWCA at job fairs, hiring events, workforce meetings, and community outreach activities
- Participate in corporate meetings, chambers of commerce, industry associations, and employer convenings to expand partnerships
Data Entry, Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate case files, forms, and documentation related to employment activities
- Enter and update participant and employment data in workforce systems including:
- Illinois workNet
- Career Connect
- ECM and other internal systems
- Track employment outcomes, placements, and retention
- Produce and submit monthly reports documenting employment activities and outcomes, including job starts, placement verification, and retention documentation
- Assist Program Managers with required reports and documentation for funders, monitoring, and audits
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Track employment outcomes and identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
- Support audits, monitoring visits, and compliance efforts
- Maintain working knowledge of local labor market conditions and employer needs
Professional Development
- Engage in continuous learning to strengthen employer engagement and job development skills
- Stay informed on workforce system requirements, reporting standards, and best practices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, employment services, job development, business services, staffing or placement agencies, or business-to-business sales
- Experience coordinating employer relationships and employment opportunities
- Familiarity with workforce data systems such as Illinois workNet and Career Connect preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to economic empowerment and serving economically and culturally diverse communities
- Ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland area
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (business management, human resources, human services, vocational counseling, sociology, psychology, social services, or related field) or equivalent experience and training.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
This position may require occasional evening or weekend work based on program needs.
