Compensation:

$42,000-$45,000 to start (Depends on Experience)

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Reporting to: Employability Services Manager Status: FT/Non-exempt

This role supports the Manager and works with the Ticket to Work (TTW) program helping Sarasota/Manatee Counties’ job seeker clients who have a disability become employed. Services include job skills analysis, career planning, resume writing, job search assistance, and referrals to job training scholarships, networking, workshop events, and community resources. TTW is a volunteer program that clients join because they want to work but often need more assistance than the standard job seeker. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the TTW Manager
  • Become proficient with TTW guidelines and eligibility 
  • Review and respond to pending client referrals
  • Create a positive, friendly, helpful, and welcoming environment for clients
  • Support clients in making informed decisions about their career development and address client needs.
  • Participate in case management and case note promptly and accurately in appropriate CRM system(s)
  • Assist clients with Employ Florida registration
  • Attend team meetings and employer outreach with the goal to assist client in job linkages
  • Collect required documentation such as employment related information
  • Help clients find employment by accessing and navigating job search websites, online tutorials 
  • Critique, proofread, edit, and format client resumes.
  • Help clients develop their budgets and track expenditures/expenses
  • Coordinate services including development, implementation, and tracking clients' Career Plans, ITA's (Individualized Training Accounts), budgets, assessments, progress, financial aid programs, PELL grants, student loans, scholarships, and CareerSource Suncoast tuition assistance as required.
  • Follow-up and review their employment/training plan progress with clients
  • Perform other related job duties as requested

Other Duties

  • Participate in CSS Community Partners meetings.
  • Establish relationships with businesses exploring job opportunities for clients.
  • Attend training sessions to enhance skills and program development.
  • Perform other job duties as requested.

Requirements

Incumbent must be able to pass Social Security Administration security clearance (Suitability) and Credit Check

Education and Experience – Associates Degree from an accredited university or college in Business, Human Services, Education or related field plus 2 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Of the 2 years related experience, a minimum of 1 year of career development experience is preferred.

Minimum Digital Literacy – Average

  • Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Must be competent with quick use of MS Word formatting features to include fonts, margins, bulleting, and troubleshooting of same.
  • Must be able to maintain and update Outlook calendar on a daily basis, share calendar, and search others’
  • Basic competency in social media (i.e. LinkedIn) including profile creation and regular monitoring. Support resources are available.
  • Ability to write professional emails to a variety of audiences

  • Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources
  • Ability to convey information effectively
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, co-workers.
  • Sensitivity to the reactions of others, understanding why they react as they do, and in turn, adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions
  • Practice empathic communication, actively listening and giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking clarifying questions as appropriate
  • Use of critical thinking through logic and reasoning to problem solve

Tools or Equipment to Be Used

  • A PC or related equipment and their designed function
  • Various software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Fax machine, photocopier, calculator, telephone
