Job Description - EMS Instructor & Student Support Specialist

SUMMARY


We are seeking an EMS Instructor & Student Support Specialist to support our innovative EMS education model. Our program combines online asynchronous didactic coursework with in-person hands-on skills weeks held at our training center. This full-time, in-person role blends direct instruction during skills weeks with ongoing online administrative oversight and student support between sessions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, student-centered, and experienced in EMS instruction and academic operations.


 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES   


This is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities.  Projects/duties may be added as needed to support the training mission. 


 


Administrative & Student Support


·         Supervise the onboarding and registration process for new students, including application review, documentation collection, and orientation coordination.



  • Serve as an accessible resource to students as they complete their asynchronous hybrid lectures.



  • Act as a primary point of contact for students progressing through online coursework, providing guidance and academic support.

  • Monitor student engagement in the LMS and follow up with those needing assistance or intervention.

  • Coordinate and track clinical onboarding requirements (e.g., immunizations, background checks, compliance uploads).

  • Maintain accurate and timely student records for compliance and accreditation purposes.

  • Communicate regularly with students, instructors, and staff to ensure alignment on program timelines and expectations.


EMS Instruction



  • Deliver in-person instruction for EMT and AEMT classes in alignment with national standards and local protocols.

  • Lead and supervise skills labs, scenario-based training, and simulation exercises.

  • Prepare and evaluate quizzes, exams, and practical skills assessments.

  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to students on clinical and cognitive performance.

  • Assist with curriculum development and implementation under the direction of the Medical Training Program Manager.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • Completes any other duties and /or projects assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS 


Education 



  • Current certification/licensure as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) or Paramedic.

  • EMS Instructor certification (Southern Nevada Health District).


 


Experience



  • Field experience in emergency medical services.

  • Prior teaching or precepting experience in EMS education preferred.


 


Specific Characteristics


·         Strong verbal communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.


·         Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with the ability to adapt to new processes and priorities as the program grows.


·         Experience working in a post-secondary or vocational EMS education setting.


·         Familiarity with clinical documentation and student tracking systems.


·         Demonstrated commitment to student development, coaching, and success.


 


 


DEMANDS 


Time and Availability 



  • This is a full-time position with an expectation of 40 hours each week  



  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as production schedule demands 


 


Travel 



  • Up to 25% travel may be required

  • Must be able to work in a moderate industrial noise level environment up to 80 dB (not needed on a consistent basis but will need occasionally) 



  • Must be able to work in a non-smoking facility
