Position Summary:
The Energy Management System (EMS) Systems Analyst will provide Energy/Generation Management System support for the growing and increasingly complex TPS EMS/SCADA system. The position is responsible for maintaining the highest system reliability, availability, integrity and security of the EMS/SCADA system in support of TPS Operations, Asset Management business units and associated customers.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensure real-time EMS/SCADA system integrity, high availability, and operational reliability, including support for redundant architectures
Monitor EMS servers, workstations, and system performance; proactively improve performance using modern technologies and best practices
Perform ongoing system administration, maintenance, upgrades, patching, backups, and local/site failover activities for EMS and associated systems
Work closely with IT, Network, and CIP teams to implement and maintain secure, reliable, and compliant EMS infrastructure aligned with policies and standards
Troubleshoot and resolve complex EMS/SCADA system issues independently and collaboratively, including engagement with vendors such as OSI/AspenTech/Emerson and AVEVA
Support EMS operations including database updates, display maintenance, and administration of the OSI Monarch system, sub-systems, and interfaces with internal and external systems
Configure, model, maintain, and support SCADA, ICCP, and communication protocols interfacing with remote devices, RTUs, and external control centers
Configure and maintain EMS databases, ensuring telemetry, controls, and calculations are accurate, available, and reliable
Understand and implement ISO telemetry and data exchange requirements to support grid reliability and regulatory compliance
Develop, maintain, and enhance SCADA displays, one-lines, and visualization tools Design, develop, deploy, and maintain EMS calculations using the C programming language
Maintain and support integrations with historical data systems such as AVEVA PI Collaborate with EMS engineers, Operations, Business, and IT teams to translate operational needs into effective engineering or automation solutions
Apply innovative thinking, modern technologies, and AI-assisted tools to identify, define, and solve complex EMS operational and technical challenges
Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, proposing enhancements, and developing scalable solutions that reduce manual effort and operational risk
Support the development of intelligent automation, decision-support, and diagnostic tools to improve troubleshooting, reliability, and operational efficiency Produce project deliverables on schedule and support completion of assigned initiatives
Communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, vendors, and ISO stakeholders
Document systems, solutions, processes, and lessons learned to ensure knowledge transfer, repeatability, and long-term operational value
Use emerging technologies responsibly, ensuring solutions are accurate, validated, governance-aligned, and reliability-focused
Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule and provide after-hours support for EMS/SCADA systems as required
Maintain dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance
Education, Experience & Skills:
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems or Computer Science from an accredited college or university or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
Experience – 0-2 years’ work experience in Energy Management Systems/SCADA environments, telecommunications, IT Infrastructure and systems support, field technician/engineering, or a bulk electric system control center and/or plant instrumentation & controls environment
Ability to perform technical analysis to define customer requirements
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to work on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment
Detail oriented with the ability to remain focused on the accuracy of task completion
Positive attitude and willingness to proactively self-educate and learn new technologies and concepts as needed
Proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office; proficiency in MSSQL, MongoDB is a plus
Able to adapt to a flexible work schedule at times to support system maintenance, upgrades and IT Infrastructure projects
