Energetic Materials Clerk

Job Summary: The Energetic Materials Clerk is responsible for tracking of energetic material and movements related to building, dry house, and bunker inventory; the position provides administrative support to the energetic materials department. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Tracks mixing duties and works with Production Control for manufacturing orders.
2. Assigns chemical allocations and verifies with Production Control/Quality to release manufacturing orders. 
3. Documents and reports bill of material and locations for manufacturing orders released for production. .Reports vendor and lot changes for any material and constituents to assist with coordinating pre-production runs for new lots.
4. Maintains net explosive weight (NEW) inventory for buildings, dry houses, and bunkers to ensure compliance of explosives with load limits.
5. Tracks movement sheets by manufacturing order in order to maintain accurate inventory records.
6. Helps identify and correct problems associated with over or under issuing of energetic materials.
7. Audits movement sheets; finds missing sheets and verifies lot numbers are correctly documented with what is being manufactured. 
8. Conducts cycle counts on energetic materials by physically counting inventory in bunkers and buildings. Completes documentation and returns to Production Control. .
9. Assists with investigating discrepancies of inventory between XRM, within the bunker logs and physical counts.
10. Fills out material verification sheets for use in production. 
11. Maintains clean work area to comply with quality, safety standards and Housekeeping Policy. 
12. Responsible for some hazardous waste management functions. Performs physical waste activities (e.g., labeling, and ensuring waste is handled properly, moving containers, collecting samples, deactivating materials, etc.).
13. Provides support in the pyro testing lab as needed. 
14. Performs other work related duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
2. Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility. 
3. Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
4. High School diploma or GED is required. 
5. General knowledge of manufacturing processes and implementation of procedures. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures. 
6. Basic mathematical aptitude is required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). 
7. Attention to detail and ability to record and document results is required.
8. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and become proficient in our internal computer systems and applications. 
9. Ability to work with other employees as part of a team and maintain a level of flexibility and versatility as well as ability to work independently to accomplish tasks using time management skills with minimal supervision. 
10. Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
11. Function Specific RCRA training upon hire. 
12. Excellent organizational skills.
13. Ability to set and establish priorities and multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

1. Ability to talk and hear in order to communicate with others. 
2. Seated work for up to 60% of the workday.
3. Frequently required to stand and/ or walk up to 30 % of the workday.
4. Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel as well as reach with hands and arms.
5. Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds and may use assistance. 
6. Bending, squatting, or kneeling is required when moving materials, or performing other duties such as filing. 
7. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
8. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. 
9. Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility. Where required employees must wear a minimum of 50 percent cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety footwear.
