Work Setting: Onsite and In-Office.

Pay Type: Salary plus Commission, bi-weekly.

Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Work Location: 1401 Landmark Drive, Cottage Grove, WI, 53527.

Energy Commodity Merchandiser Essential Responsibilities:

The Energy Commodity Merchandiser is a commodity trading position located in Cottage Grove, WI. This position will collaborate across business units and job functions within the cooperative. This role will have a strong emphasis in the Energy Business Unit. The role to procure and manage risk related to bulk refined fuels and propane purchases. The role will focus on maximizing volume and margins through procurement and facilitating sales by utilizing arbitrage, cultivating healthy relationships and ensuring seamless execution of contracts. The role will involve rail and truck logistics. A successful commodity merchandiser will work closely with operations, accounting, and sales to follow our mission, vision and values. Posting contract prices, managing cash and futures positions as well as articulating markets to internal and external stakeholder.

  • Monitor market, operational, and business needs to maximize commercial opportunities and minimize risk through sales, price, and execution
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms
  • Communicate price and opportunity to customers and sales staff
  • Document and communicate markets, price, and contracts to accounting for proper records
  • Accurate contract execution and management
  • Develop and maintain an extensive and varied business relationship network
  • Ensure the business unit operates within ALCIVIA assigned risk limits
  • Support ALCIVIA Leadership in business development and change management
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Energy Commodity Merchandiser Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of merchandising experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Willingness to train and develop into this role
  • Strong understanding of the products and services within the assigned area of business
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business operations and process improvement
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong listening and decision-making skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Sales and service focused mindset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated to always exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to identify objectives and recommend the best solutions

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
