We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our Market Data Operations team in Houston. This role blends technical data skills with shipping and trade flow analysis, focusing on transforming raw vessel movement and cargo data into actionable insights. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely on natural gas liquids (NGLs), LPG, and related commodity flows, while also contributing to broader energy and shipping datasets. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about working with data (SQL/Python) who is curious about global energy and commodity trade flows.
What you'll be doing
- Monitor and analyze shipping activity, cargo movements, and trade flows across global energy markets, with a particular focus on NGLs/LPG cargoes.
- Use SQL and Python to automate data quality checks, streamline ingestion pipelines, and build internal tools.
- Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot data ingestion and improve backend systems.
- Develop datasets and visualizations that transform complex raw data into clear insights.
- Contribute to forecasting models and market intelligence by ensuring high-quality, timely data delivery.
You’re a great fit if you have
- 3–6+ years of experience in data analysis of shipping flows, or energy/commodity datasets (NGLs/LPG experience a strong plus).
- Strong technical skills in SQL and Python.
- A passion for data quality, automation, and uncovering patterns in large datasets.
- The ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and research teams.
