Job Description - Engagement Supervisor (Behavioral Health Outpatient)


Title: Engagement Supervisor

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours per week

Salary Range: $24.04 – $26.60 per hour

Supervisor: Director of Clinical Administration

Location: Kingston or Poughkeepsie Behavioral Health Center

Function: The Engagement Specialist promotes the agency’s mission statement and values through compassionate communication with current clients who are having difficulty engaging in treatment. As the initial point of contact, you will be responsible for all aspects of identifying and communicating with these clients, sending letters, tracking communication, uploading documentation, adding notes and alerts, and providing alternate scheduling options to these clients. Engagement Specialists are also often the first point of contact for potential clients seeking services, including those being discharged from hospitals and other facilities, and are responsible for providing education about FSI services, guiding individuals and scheduling initial appointments.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Human Services, or a closely related field.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in overseeing client scheduling or case management teams, or at least two (2) years of exceptional performance as an intake coordinator, case manager, or related role, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Previous supervisor or program coordination experience.
  • Skillful knowledge of behavioral health terminology and client needs.
  • Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, and/or other insurances preferred.
  • Understanding of productivity measures and compliance standards preferred.
  • Experience working in a clinical mental health setting.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking preferred.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The Engagement Supervisor is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the client Engagement process, as well as the supervision of Engagement Specialist staff. The Engagement staff are the initial points of contact for clients who are having difficulty engaging in treatment. The Engagement Team is also the initial point of contact for hospitals and other referral agencies. 
  • The Engagement Supervisor will lead this team, promoting service excellence, cross department collaboration, and streamlined engagement in behavioral health services. 
  • The Engagement Supervisor is responsible for holding weekly Team Meetings, weekly or bi-weekly supervision with Engagement Specialists, creating custom reports on the Engagement and Referral processes and outcomes, Engagement staff performance reviews, collaborating with Clinical Directors and Supervisors, elements of the hiring and termination processes, as well as responsible for the Engagement process for the clinics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Two (2) years working with Medicaid, Medicare, and/or other insurances.
  • Technology savvy (Windows, Microsoft Office, Electronic Health Records)
  • Knowledge of Netsmart Electronic Health Record (EHR) and OMH regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance regulations
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
  • Collaborative relationship building and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Clinical and business insight

 

 Work Environment:

  • Hybrid with some travel to various clinics, meetings, and events.
