Job Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager this position is responsible for executing routine engineering activities and coordinating and supporting more complex engineering deliverables. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful.Job Description:
Supports projects within scope, schedule, and cost, under supervision of an engineer licensed in Puerto Rico,
Assists and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring engineering skills.
Reviews of functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations.
Collaborates with design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
Coordinates basic work planning, budgeting and cost estimating.
Develops and updates single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.
Supports material procurement.
Supports QA/QC design reviews.
Provides engineering support to field and construction groups.
Utilizes, develop, and improve engineering processes and standards.
Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and management.
Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
Two years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience. Master’s degree counts as one year.
Licenses
EIT Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects
Skills
Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
Experience applying sound judgment to make decisions.
Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering.
Experience in utility industry trade organizations.
