Job Summary

Provide electrical engineering support for the development and commercialization of new simple, small-scale processes, process improvements, and technical systems. Responsible for fundamental electrical design and basic development of manufacturing equipment and processes, supporting continuous improvement in equipment reliability, safety, and processes. Participate in cross-functional teams and lead skill-appropriate projects or activities in support of business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Modify and write new, basic PLC/HMI/other system programs.


2. Update and create fundamental electrical schematics.


3. Determine requirements for new simple equipment/systems.


4. Install new basic automation on existing equipment and coordinate installation.


5. Perform testing, validation, and complete required paperwork and training for new systems.


6. Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, and lead corrective actions.


7. Identify and replace obsolete components for small-scale projects.


8. Recommend spare parts and manage inventory needs.


9. Update and create P&ID drawings.


10. Obtain quotes for parts or services and coordinate small-scale contractor tasks.


11. Support device communications on machine ethernet networks.


12. Maintain, troubleshoot, and update machine safety systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an electrical-related field with exposure to PLC programming in a manufacturing environment, or an associate degree/Journeyman in a related technology field with four years of programming/automation experience.


• In lieu of a degree, additional years of related experience may be considered.


• Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI/Servo/VFD programming (Rockwell Automation platform).


• Basic knowledge of automation networks and communications (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ASi, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, RS232).


• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable electrical design software.


• Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics, and P&ID drawings.


• Strong analytical skills and exposure to project management.


• Awareness of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations.


• Computer skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Communicate face-to-face and over the phone.


• Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.


• Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending, twisting, kneeling.


• Exposure to noise, temperature extremes, fumes/odors, cramped quarters, and moving mechanical parts.


• Office and production floor environments.
