Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for an Engineer I, II, or Senior to join our Customer Relations and Energy Efficiency Programs team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. What does an Engineer on the Customer Relations and Energy Efficiency Programs team do for us?
They work to encourage cost effective energy savings for commercial and industrial customers by investigating new efficient technologies for application to facility system operation and maintenance. They will evaluate, analyze, and recommend equipment, materials and components for many types of commercial and industrial mechanical/electrical/thermal/building systems such as pumps, fans, heat exchangers, building shell, drinking water, wastewater, industrial process systems, lighting, compressed air, refrigeration, chillers, compressors, hydraulic and HVAC systems and controls.

Engineer I:
Operating under general supervision and with oversight, an Engineer I is developing technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads assignments and projects, may interface with internal departments and external organizations, and receives guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.
Engineer II:
Operating under limited supervision, an Engineer II has an intermediate level of technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads moderately complex assignments and projects, interfaces with internal departments and external organizations, and receives high-level guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.
Senior Engineer:
Operating under minimal supervision and using independent initiative, Senior Engineers have comprehensive technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads complex assignments and projects, interfaces with internal departments and external organizations, and mentors other engineers and engineering support staff as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is an office position with occasional field work, it requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Walking on even/uneven surfaces and ascents/descents, up to 5 miles daily, and while carrying 14-26 lbs. of equipment. Lifting of up to 36 lbs. and carrying up to 30 lbs., (up to 50 feet), is performed. Hiking/Snowshoeing is performed up to 1 mile. Climbing of ladders/racks and work within elevated lifts (up to 40 feet high) with competency in use of safety equipment is required. Squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lying at ground level is performed to work within confined spaces of power plants/dams/generators, for extended intervals up to a full shift. Driving is required to perform work throughout the IPC territory, (3-7 hours) The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
