Job Description - Engineer II or III

Job Description
The Engineer position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the Stormwater Plan Review Section of Planning and Development. The Engineer II and III roles will perform multiple aspects of the review process requiring more experience and skill in evaluating engineering plans and maps as well as supporting larger, more complex projects.

Essential Duties

Review of development plans and documents for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to stormwater, water and sewer design
Review of various associated reports (hydrology, flood, and as-built) for compliance with the Gwinnett County Unified Development Ordinance and other applicable codes or procedures
Evaluation of maintenance agreements, bond information, and water/sewer easement documents for compliance with Gwinnett County regulations
Research, investigation, and evaluation of complaints and inquires received by the public or management regarding water, sewer, and stormwater issues
This position may supervise staff, assist in budget preparation, and perform other miscellaneous duties of a similar nature
Grade
The grade for Engineer II is C43(1) and for Engineer III is C45(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
Engineer II

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering AND
One year of related experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

Valid Driver's License from state of residency.
Engineer III

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering AND
Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience;

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
