Job Description

Summary

This position is responsible for creating and delivering regularly scheduled network capacity reports related to various aspects of the client's IP and HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) Network. This includes, but is not limited to:

Subscriber Consumption
Speed Tier / Product Impact Analysis
Commercial & Residential Services
CMTS Utilization
“Top Talkers”
DOCSIS / Device Analysis
In addition to this, as required, this person will be responsible for creating and delivering ad-hoc capacity analyses that will require a comprehensive understanding of IP and HFC networks and a proficiency using SQL, Tableau, Excel and PowerPoint.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collect data from Capacity Planning’s database infrastructure, compile and analyze data, produce and deliver accurate and complete capacity reports to Platform Engineering Services and Deployment Engineering management, Corporate/Finance and Division Capacity teams per defined schedules.
Create and deliver regularly scheduled capacity reports, providing detailed analysis of observed trends and investigating any anomalies discovered.
Compile and deliver monthly HSD consumption analysis, at both the national and division levels.
Interface as the Capacity Planning lead for all HSD speed tier upgrades and new products, providing data analysis and insights regarding potential network impact.
Create dashboards to monitor utilization behavior and changes in product/service distribution across the network.
Maintain historic capacity data and produce utilization and associated forecasts as required.
Work closely with the Capacity Planning Development team to automate repeatable processes to improve data processing and reporting efficiencies.

Qualifications

Education:

B.S. in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics, Database technologies or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

2-5 years experience in a capacity planning, network engineering or network operations role.
Ideal candidate will have worked one or more years in a “triple-play” (voice/video/data) environment.
Proficiency with SQL is a requirement. A demonstrated ability to create and execute SQL queries, manipulate data and experience using SSIS is required. Proficiency with Excel is also required to be successful in this role.
Experience with Lean methods and Agile development processes and tools are preferred.
Ideal candidate will have an understanding of cable high speed data (HSD) infrastructures (i.e. CMTS, Fiber Nodes, etc.) and a working knowledge of IP networking infrastructures and components (routers, switches, etc.).
Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as IP, TCP, Multicast, etc.
Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate (verbal and written) with both team members and management.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment, while demonstrating the personal initiative needed to succeed in such an environment.
Must be a detail-oriented person and possess solid organization skills.
Scripting / automation skills considered a plus.
Creative, self-motivated team player willing to take ownership of tasks assigned and new responsibilities as required.

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required.
Some travel may be required.

Additional Information

Contract to hire after 3 months. Local candidate only.
The interview process will start with a phone screen and then move to multiple in-person interviews.
