Engineer in Training (EIT)

A civil engineering company in New Bern, NC is seeking an Engineer in Training to support design and technical work across civil engineering projects while working toward full PE licensure. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career engineer to build hands-on project experience under the mentorship of licensed engineers.

Responsibilities

• Support civil engineering design tasks including calculations, drawings, and technical documentation


• Assist licensed engineers with project design, permitting, and construction support


• Conduct field visits, site assessments, and data collection as needed


• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation


• Collaborate with project teams across engineering, survey, and construction disciplines


• Work toward PE licensure with mentorship and support from senior engineering staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)


• EIT/FE certification required


• 0–4 years of civil engineering experience


• Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail


• Proficiency with relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar) preferred


• Strong written and verbal communication skills
