JOB SUMMARY

Evaluates manufacturing processes by developing, designing and conducting research to improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of process design; materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Responsible for development, programming, and internal drawing creation of all NPI (new part introduction).
  • Works with cross functional teams to identify and implement lean solutions to achieve safety, efficiency, and quality goals.
  • Uses error proofing strategies to design fixtures and tooling for production operations.
  • Identifies, organizes, and leads teams to resolve production process and product issues.
  • Adapts machine or equipment designs to factory and production conditions.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Trains lower-level Manufacturing Engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing environment; sheet metal experience and design knowledge/experience desired.
• Experience with CNC programming (preferably with Striker software).
• Six Sigma certified helpful.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing background.
• Strong analytical, communication, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) skills; proficient in design software (Solid Works, Autocad and DraftSight).
• A high level of creativity and latitude is required.
