Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nArmament Systems Plymouth, MN is currently seeking an Engineer/Principal Engineer Systems Safety to be part of our Hazards Analysis team supporting several locations within Armament Systems, but home location would be the Plymouth, MN facility.\n\nRole description \u0026 Responsibilities:\n\nEngineer Systems Safety will perform hazards analysis studies for Armament System\u2019s processes. This will generally involve assembly and checkout of explosive devices and assemblies which involve both electrical and mechanical aspects in addition to hazardous chemicals, compatibility and employees exposure. These studies identify and categorize risk and establish safeguards to prevent ignition, injury, or damage, and define necessary actions to negate the hazard or reduce risk to acceptable levels. Engineer Systems Safety works closely with both product and process engineering, design engineers, Operations and the EHS team to complete the analysis effort. Ability to travel in support of analyzing explosive operations at other NG facilities, attend trainings and collaborate with other locations, \u003c20% of the time. \n\nJob Duties: \n\n * Performs complex process safety and/or hazards analysis engineering assignments in support of the development, testing, and production of highly hazardous materials.\n * Often functions in a consulting role or has HA project leadership role in important design, development, and manufacturing projects.\n * Primary role is to apply a physics-based approach to risk identification and mitigation requiring considerable technical experience and ability.\n * Prepares/supports Quantity/Distance analyses, concept, design and process hazards analyses, technical analyses in response to contract data item requirements.\n * End item safety analyses, safety assessment reports, ground operations and support hazards analyses, engineering change proposals\n * Provides technical basis for safety waivers and regulatory interpretations, deviations, and explosives hazard classifications.\n * Supports and defends critical review of the analysis effort in all review forums up to and including senior leadership.\n * Will develop a working knowledge of MIL-STD 882, DoD 4145.26M, DoD 6055.9, OSHA, NFPA and internal Northrop Grumman Hazardous Operations Standards. \n * Support OSHA Process Safety Management compliance efforts onsite. \n\n\n\nSkills \u0026 Qualifications: \n\nMust have strong multitasking, mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities. Well-organized, works effectively with little to no supervision, maintains attention to detail and deals effectively with ambiguity. Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal). Candidate must be able to prepare and deliver briefings of technical information, with clarity, to all levels of management and stakeholders. Must be able to function within a larger EHS team to promote a collaborative safety approach. \n\nMinimum Requirements:\n\nPlease note this position may be filled as an Engineer Systems Safety level 2 or 3 based on the candidate\u2019s education and/or years of experience.\n\nTo Qualify for Engineer Systems Safety (Level 2)\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry plus 2 years of relevant experience as it relates to a Systems Safety Engineer; or Master\u2019s degree and 0 experience\n * Experience with GFMEA or other hazards analysis techniques is a plus\n * Experience involving explosives a plus\n * US Citizenship is required\n * Ability to Obtain Secret Government Clearance\n\n\n\nTo Qualify for Principal Engineer Systems Safety (Level 3)\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry plus 5 years of relevant experience as it relates to a Systems Safety Engineer; or Master\u2019s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience\n * Experience with GFMEA or other hazards analysis techniques is a plus\n * US Citizenship is required\n * Ability to Obtain Secret Government Clearance\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Experience working with explosives is highly desired\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
