Coterra is hiring an Engineering Analyst in Houston, Texas
The Opportunity
Coterra is hiring an Engineering Analyst to support midstream oil and gas commercial and operational analysis. This role offers a strong opportunity to work with large datasets, build and maintain analytical models, and develop insights that directly inform business decisions. You will be part of a dynamic, data-driven environment and gain exposure to pricing, contracts, and operational performance across our asset base. This position is located onsite at our Houston, Texas headquarters and reports to the VP of Corporate Engineering.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Analyze large and complex operational datasets to identify trends, validate results, and deliver actionable insights
Maintain and update internal and third-party price forecasts used in financial and commercial evaluations
Support the development and maintenance of Excel-based financial and operational models, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and scenario analysis
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, consistency, and version control across shared databases and workbooks
Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities to improve data flows and model efficiency
Collaborate cross-functionally to support analysis related to natural gas gathering and processing contracts, tariffs, and fee structures
Develop an understanding of oil and gas operational data to support commercial decision-making
Your Background Includes
Education
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
Years of Experience
Two (2) or more years of experience required in upstream or midstream oil and gas
The Skills You Bring
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and scenario modeling
Experience working with oil and gas operational or commercial datasets
Familiarity with natural gas gathering and processing contracts, tariffs, and fee structures
Experience with Aries (Petroleum Economics software) preferred
Data management tools or business intelligence platforms such as Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, or SQL is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment and at times outdoors. Incumbents in this position must be able to physically and legally operate company-owned vehicles. Employees must be able to perform work requiring typing, standing, sitting, and moderate physical activity. Employees may be required to physically visit areas where operations are occurring, such as gathering, processing, or production locations. Personal protective equipment, including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing, is required. Safety rules, including OSHA and DOT requirements, are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to work extended hours on short notice.
Travel Requirements
Approximately 10% travel for mandatory meetings, training, and field site visits
