Job Description - Engineering - Field Engineering Specialist II
JOB SUMMARY: Performs non-routine to moderately complex engineering detail and field work, ensuring work orders are complete and all requirements are met. Assists in selecting cost effective and safe project designs. Serves as a primary customer contact for assigned communities regarding new or changes to existing fiber documentation systems.

Primary Accountabilities Handles non-routine to moderately complex data entry and data entry automation projects in the Fiber Manager GIS system * Plans fiber route input sequences for construction plans and as-builts including as-builts, preparing necessary maps and sketches, ensures accuracy of slack calculations, and enters correct splicing assignments. Performs a variety of analysis including, but not limited to, completion of dark lease applications while adhering to regulatory requirements. Tracks and reports work related functions necessary to support the business processes including creating work requests, GIS/Mapping System, and various other systems. Provides technical support for automation of data input tasks from construction plans and red lines. Works with hourly and salaried supervisors in scheduling work. Assists network engineering in development of project scopes and schedules by selecting and specifying sites. Interacts with operations managers to assist with map utilization field training. Keeps current in knowledge and understanding of company procedures, rates, rules, practices, standards, and application of construction materials. Supervision Performs work under the general supervision of a Team Lead.
QUALIFICATIONS Education Level Field of Study Required/Preferred associate degree Preferred.
Required Experience 2 years of related experience Other Requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good knowledge of math, physics and fiber construction practices. Working knowledge of Fiber Manager or ArcGIS. Demonstrated survey and data input and design skills within a GIS system. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred. Ability to understand scripting or other automation capabilities available in ArcGIS and/or Fiber manager.
